Healthcare Reform Poorly Understood
After Medicare open enrollment kicked off on November 15, senior citizens in the U.S. have seen changes to their healthcare plans. President Obama's healthcare law expanded the prescription drug benefits for seniors, along with other benefits, but many of our elderly don't understand the law.
A Kaiser Family Foundation poll surveyed Americans 65 and older, a group that lead strong opposition to the healthcare bill. The poll found that 57 percent of seniors are confused by the law, which is higher than for any other demographic; most senior citizens do not know that the law means for them.

Kaiser Says Healthcare Was Not Major Influence in MidTerm Elections
What is the future of the Health Care Overhaul Law, now that Republicans control the House of Representatives? Numerous exit polls were conducted following the recent election to determine public sentiment and the potential future regarding the health care law. A Kaiser Family Foundation poll conducted last week studied the role that health care reform played in voters' decisions and greater public sentiment about the new health care law.
Kaiser's poll demonstrated that while health care reform was a factor in many voters' decisions, it was not a dominant one. Instead, the survey found that the most important topic to voters was the economy/jobs.

PETA Believes University of Michigan Violates the Animal Welfare Act
The University of Michigan is being castigated by critics for a course that instill knowledge to students on how to save human lives, yet uses animals in their trainings.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals submitted a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and requested for an investigation into U-M's Survival Flight course, which trains future nurses on board helicopters for survival flights using live cats and pigs.
